Domiciliary Care Services Offered by BelleVie

Domiciliary services provide help around the home and aim to support adults of all ages to maintain their independence for longer. The best providers, such as BelleVie, can often provide a viable alternative to retirement communities or care homes, letting older people live the lives they love under their own roof – and on their own terms.

As an award-winning domiciliary care agency, we know just how important it is to choose the right care service. That’s why we have a stringent recruitment process, only selecting individuals who are passionate about their work and compassionate in their care.

Our services are tailored to meet specific needs and can be provided on a flexible schedule, such as every day for a few hours, every other day, or once a week. As well as providing practical support and personal care, our friendly Wellbeing Support Workers also offer companionship, and the reassurance of regular, ongoing interaction.

What Does Domiciliary Home Care Involve?

Domiciliary care means that trained professionals come into your home, or that of a loved one, to help with a wide variety of tasks. The tasks are specific to the person requiring support, but can include anything from help with bathing and dressing, to household tasks such as food preparation, cleaning and laundry.

Domiciliary Services For People With Specific Needs

It’s not just older people who can benefit from in-home domiciliary care. Adults of any age with disabilities and/or serious, chronic conditions can also find BelleVie’s services useful. And because the care we give can be booked on a long- or -short-term basis, we’re also able to provide respite care for family members, or support people who are recovering from surgery or rehabilitating after illness.

Domiciliary Care As An Alternative to Care Homes

Moving home is stressful for anyone, and particularly so if it means leaving long-held friendships and a community of familiar faces behind. Domiciliary care provides a good alternative for people who aren’t quite able to keep on top of things like they once were, but who don’t want to give up their home and their independence to move into residential care.

Knowing they are being properly looked after in the place they love most – their own home – can also bring loved ones great peace of mind, particularly if they don’t live close by.

How Domiciliary Care Services Can Help

In contrast to other types of care, BelleVie’s domiciliary services are offered on a flexible schedule, and can include any or all of the following:

Personal Care

Personal care and hygiene is vital to wellbeing. If someone isn’t able to care for themselves properly, then BelleVie’s Wellbeing Support Workers can step in to help with:

  • Washing and bathing
  • Dressing
  • Booking appointments with doctors, hair salons, dentists etc. as needed
  • Transportation to/from appointments

We understand that letting someone into your home, and into your personal space, can feel unsettling at first. We therefore select our Wellbeing Support Workers based on compassion as well as competency. We also allow time in our rotas for them to get to know each and every person they support, helping forge relationships of mutual trust and respect that ensure everyone involved feels safe and comfortable.

Housekeeping

Depending on need and preference, BelleVie can offer practical help in and around the home, such as:

  • Housework and general organisation
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Grocery shopping and meal planning
  • Changing bed linen
  • Light gardening
  • Contacting suppliers about household repairs etc

Medication Management

Keeping on top of medication can be tricky – particularly for anyone living with dementia and/or if lots of types of medications are involved, requiring different doses at different intervals.

Our Wellbeing Support Workers can help by:

  • Providing safe transportation to and from medical appointments
  • Collecting prescriptions
  • Organising medication so it’s easier to keep track of timings and dosage levels
  • Giving and/or setting medication reminders

Companionship

Sometimes people just need a little bit of companionship for a good chat over a coffee or a trip out into town. At BelleVie, we can provide things such as:

  • Providing transportation to appointments or events
  • Engaging in hobbies or interests together
  • Supporting and encouraging physical activity and exercise
  • Helping to maintain connections with family and friends
  • Having conversations and providing emotional support
  • Offering a listening ear, encouragement, and empathy

How Do Domiciliary Services Work?

A lot of people want to understand how the process of arranging domiciliary care works with BelleVie, so we’ve outlined our simple process, here:

Step 1: Fill in our contact form or give our friendly team a quick call. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Step 2: We’ll set up a meeting with you. It can be on the phone, via video call, or in person – whatever works best for you. During the session, we’ll discuss your unique needs and preferences and explore what kind of support you need, and how regularly. We’ll also answer your questions and address any concerns you may have, to help put your mind at ease.

Step 3: If you’re happy with how the first meeting went, we will move on to creating a bespoke care plan, based on your choices and needs. It will contain all the information about the services you require, the schedule you’d like us to follow, and the particular carers who will be assisting you.

Step 4: Our friendly care team will review your care plan once it has been established, and then provide you with the services specified in the comfort of your home.

How Much Do Domiciliary Care Services Cost?

At BelleVie, we work hard to keep our domiciliary care costs as low as possible. We strive to keep our fees affordable and provide a variety of payment options. We recognise that the cost of care can be a problem for many people and families, and so we try our best to make our services accessible to all.

The fact that domiciliary care services can be completely flexible in terms of frequency and time really does set them apart from other forms of care services. Care and at-home help is offered on a bespoke timetable that is tailored to each person’s needs. Our Wellbeing Support Workers can visit weekly, daily, or even several times a day. It’s your home, so you’re the boss! Tell us what you need, and we’ll create a package that suits you – and your budget!

FAQs

What is expected from domiciliary care providers?

A domiciliary care provider helps people maintain their independence and quality of life at home by offering support with everyday chores and activities. The particular jobs and services will vary depending on the unique needs of the person, but can include support around the home and garden, personal care, companionship, and help running errands.

Can anyone use domiciliary care?

Home domiciliary care is not suitable for children or for people who require round-the-clock medical care or assistance.

Are domiciliary care services covered by insurance companies or councils?

Depending on the particular policy and the person’s needs, insurance companies may or may not cover domiciliary care services. It is usually a good idea to confirm coverage with your insurance company beforehand. In some cases, information about grants can be sought from your local council.
