Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection

Posted on

On the 17th March 2022 we pay tribute to the incredible work of the dedicated people working across social care during the past two years of the pandemic, and to remember social care colleagues from other organisations who were sadly lost to COVID-19.

Social Care Day or Remembrance and Reflection

Fortunately, BelleVie did not lose any colleagues to COVID-19, and those who did catch COVID-19 are all back at work. However, an estimated 922 social care workers from other care providers lost their lives to COVID-19 between March 2020-May 2021. The Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection will remember these people as well as reflect on the work of everyone working in social care.

The Care Workers Charity, who launched this day of remembrance, have created a virtual memorial wall and tribute wall where messages can be dedicated to members of our social care workforce. We’re encouraging everyone whose lives are impacted by Social Care to share their words of thanks too.

“I’d like to thank all BelleVie colleagues for your dedication to the people we support, your strength in coming together as teams to support each other when Covid was quite frankly scary, your resilience when colleagues were off ill or self-isolating and cover was needed, again and again; and ultimately your immense humanity during what I hope is a once in a lifetime crisis that we lived through and survived.” – Trudie Fell, CEO and Co-founder, BelleVie

We also thank SBL Laboratory who repurposed their labs and provided weekly PCR testing for all our Oxfordshire teams from April 2020 until the Government PCR testing scheme came into force for Social Care a year later.
