Caring for Carers During the Pandemic

We were very proud of our Wellbeing Support Workers, who worked tirelessly to ensure those we supported continued getting the care they needed during the pandemic.

Because we have small teams that work closely together, this acts as a support network built on strong relationships.

During the pandemic, we focused even more on the mental health of the key workers.

“One thing that worked really well during the lockdown was that Wellbeing Support Workers received a little pamper gift with essential oils, and a reminder that while we’re busy caring for others, we also need to take time to look after ourselves. Gestures such as this as well as handwritten cards or a phone call just to check in, really made us feel valued and appreciated during a difficult time.” – Gemma, Practice Coach

We also utilised our digital tools to replace face-to-face team meetings – a COVID19 channel, and a daily check in channel were added to our internal communication platform. Here Wellbeing Support Workers shared questions or information about COVID-19, and checked in with each other each day to start a discussion about how they were feeling.
